“Where in the bible are dinosaurs mentioned?”

This weeks tough question is, “Where in the Bible are dinosaurs mentioned, and if so, where did they dwell in relation to the Garden of Eden or anywhere for that matter?  Did their demise occur during the fall of man?”

This is a great question which made me do a lot of reading. First of all the word Dinosaur wasn’t coined until the 1800′s. In fact the first dinosaur fossil wasn’t found until 1820. So why doesn’t the Bible mention dinosaurs? The easy answer is that they are called something else. In the Old Testament there are several mentions of a dragon.

Job, the oldest written book in the Bible, mentions a dragon (30:29) and this could easily be translated into a dinosaur. The word dinosaur itself means great lizard and the descriptions from old history books could easily translate dragons into dinosaurs. If you realize that dinosaurs ended up turning into fossil fuels then we only need to look at where the major deposits of these are to understand where they lived. Obviously the Middle East has some of the biggest deposits of oil. They recently discovered the largest oil deposit right off the coast of Israel. Russia, Canada, the United States all have large deposits of oil.

So what happened to the dinosaurs?  They obviously existed because we can go to museums and look at their bones. Well if you read the evolutionists they tell you that they starved to death but if you read the Bible you remember that there was a cataclysmic event call “The Flood.” Every animal that didn’t fit into the ark died. We can assume that the dinosaurs served their purpose and continue to do that today.

Great question. Keep them coming.
