Our Story
1999
The Village Chapel’s Story starts several years back in the heart of Pastor Paul Berry of Calvary Chapel Santa Maria. Seeing several families from Vandenberg Village attending CCSM he began to pray for the opportunity to start a church there. AS he shared his heart a spark ignited in the heart of Chuck Musselwhite, the youth pastor at CCSM
July 28, 2006
Paul Berry asked Chuck Musselwhite to pray about planting a church in Vandenberg Village. God quickly confirmed it.
October 2006
There was a sizable team formed and plans were put in place to start Sunday services in January 2007.
January 28, 2007
After many answered prayers and God’s incredible provision we held our first Sunday with over 150 people in attendance at The White Oak Hotel.
March 2007
We were growing at such a pace that we rented over 7000 sq. ft. of space from the White Oak Hotel. We renovated the former Restaurant dining room into our sanctuary and converted the bar into classrooms and multi-purpose area. We quickly grew from that point forward adding a second service and growing to over three hundred people in attendance.
October 2007
We added a third service and more staff. The church was quickly maxing out all available space.
January 2008
We rented 1600 sq. ft. of office space to house our growing daily operations.
March 2008
We were out of room and needed to find more space. In a chance meeting we met with the Business Administrator at Lompoc Schools and we were able to rent out Buena Vista School on Sundays.
April 20, 2008
We started meeting at Buena Vista School. Being in the middle of a neighborhood allowed us to reach more people and by the end of the summer of 2008 we were once again filling up all of our space. With three full time staff and several part time staff we are working feverishly to keep up with the demands and needs of the people we serve.
January 22, 2009
We officially became a Calvary Chapel Church. The story is not over but just beginning, as we trust God to live His Word. We are glad you visited with us, and we hope you consider making The Village Chapel your home church.
