Building Update #2

July 15, 2010

Every couple of weeks I am going to update this post to keep you up to date on what is happening with the hotel. Since many of the people who read this don’t come to our church and, much to my dismay, have the wrong intent I will keep the information in general terms and in percentages instead of real numbers. If you would like specifics please come up and ask me at church.
First off we have had an incredible response to giving to our building fund. We have seen an increase of 60% in the first two weeks of our capital campaign. This doesn’t even include the pledges that many are making on a monthly budget. Thank you for your faithfulness in giving. At the current moment we are at close to 25% of intended goal.
Second we have met with some resistance from the owner of the hotel. He seems pretty set on selling it for way more than it is worth. This would seem like a set back but in reality it is a blessing. It forces us to our knees in prayer and looking to God for an answer. We have also talked with a commercial appraiser with tons of experience in the hotel business and he gave us an idea of what the property is worth. We are excited because at that number we could afford the mortgage. It also shows us that we are in a good position to go after the property if it were to go into foreclosure, which is a distinct reality.
Finally I am meeting with an Architect to discuss the possibilities. He is very experienced in working with churches and in Santa Barbara county. He was the architect on Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara, Reality Carp, and Santa Ynez Presbyterian. If you haven’t seen Santa Ynez Pres church you need to. It is, in my opinion the most beautiful church on the Central Coast. Go by and check it out on the corner of Alamo Pintado and Ballard Dr. in Santa Ynez.
So things are chugging away and we are excited. Make plans to join us for our next night of Prayer on Monday August 2nd at 7pm in the Ministry Center.

    SYPChurch – it is beautiful.
We did work there – including the cryroom & wood work around the stained glass, we also did the surround sound. It was a fun project to watch as the new church transpired. My employer is know for his wood working abilities mostly Montecito, SB & SY areas ….for now.

Got something to say?
